1837

THE FOUNDATION

It is our historical year, when all began.
The two brothers Virgilio, Evangelista and their sister Chiara founded the Company “Ziliani Virgilio and Brothers” as a fishing-net factory.

1892

With the death of Evangelista Ziliani, the Company was taken over by his son Gian Battista.

1927

FROM HANDCRAFT TO INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY

It is an important year for our company. Gian Battista’s, sons Italo and Mario, started the construction of a new factory in Sulzano (Brescia) under the name of: “Retificio Evangelista Ziliani”.

1948

Ziliani Mario retired from the Company and replaced by Italo Ziliani and his wife Maria Maddalena Cavalieri.

1960

THE FIRST TWISTING MACHINES WERE INTRODUCED

The process of fishing-nets previously made from cotton thread, from now on had to be manufactured with Polyamide Multifilament.

1961

Evangelista Ziliani entered the company, together with his father Italo and his mother Maria Maddalena Cavalieri.

1966

A new building was built near the old “Retificio Ziliani” and the company name became
MA.RE.CO (MA=Manifattura as manufacturing; RE=Reti as nets; CO=Corde as ropes)

1971

Gian Battista Ziliani entered the company together with his brother Evangelista and his mother Maria Maddalena Cavalieri.

1975

The companies “Retificio Ziliani” and MA.RE.CO moved in another village, from Sulzano to Iseo, to a new plant, on an area 20 times bigger
Company name changed to MA.RE. (Manifattura as manufacturing; RE=Reti as nets)

1977

POLYESTER MULTIFILAMENT

New Product: Polyester Multifilament For Sewing Yarns

1985

NO MORE ROPES WERE MADE

1990

THE FIRST EXTRUSION MACHINE WAS INSTALLED

We began to produce Polyamide and Polyester Monofilaments for various industrial applications.

1992

MA.RE. entered the world of PMC (Paper Machine Clothing)

This is the third important step of our changes, with the production of Monofilaments for felts for paper mills.

2001

POLYAMIDE TWISTED

Polyamide twisted monofilament added to our range of products.

Italo ZILIANI, son of Evangelista, started working together with his father in the Sales Department.
We developed new products for:
– Automotive – Tannery Felts – Fiber cement – Transport Belts.

2005

Mario ZILIANI, son of Gian Battista, started working together with his father in the Technical Department.
We developed new products for: Filtration and other Special Applications.

2009

MA.RE. had #6 EXTRUSION LINES

We kept on investing in new projects and laboratory equipment. The number of employees was increased in the production, technical and R&D departments.

2010

Our MONOFILAMENT TWISTING PRODUCTION was ENLARGED

A revamping campaign on all twisting machine was carried on, new engines with low energy consumption inverters were used, to work with increased capacity to satisfy growing requests for PMC press twisted mono in warp and weft.

2017

Extrusion line #10 and enlargement of the raw material warehouse

2018

Extrusion line #11 and further grow in the filtration field

2020

Extrusion line #12 and enlargement of the packaging deposit

2021-2022

RECORDS IN PRODUCTION QUANTITIES

These years will always be remembered for the worldwide pandemic of COVID-19 and nonetheless, MA.RE. worked at full capacity and in countertendency in respect of our other competitors, we were able to deliver on time all our customers’ orders.
That was the key to grow in the PMC PRESS and move on to DRYER FELTS.
NEW co-operation in the PMC FORMING FABRICS started, with some important players on this market.
